Watercolor, abstract I - vandfarve, abstrakt I

For some time I have been wanting to try out watercolors on my nails, so I bought a cheap set in a Tiger Store with 8 blocks of color.
It was fun, I can tell you, and now I cannot help but wondering if a better/more expensive kind of watercolors gives a different result. The colors seem “chalky” and best pigmented if I used them as dry as possible, way drier than you normally do with water colors/pastel colors. The bonus was cracks when it dried, and I find it cool for this “painting”.
Over my base coat I added a coat of China Glaze Sea Spray, and I randomly added the colors one by one. One coat of top coat isn’t enough to get a smooth surface, so I had to add 2, and frankly 3 coats would have been better.
The next time I’ll use more water and let the colors blend/bleed more into each other, if I can make these water colors do so.
What do you think?

Eller bare gi mig nogle anbefalinger her ;-)

  9. Very pretty combination! It's an interesting idea to use water colour paints on your nails, and I would very much like to see how they would look with more water mixed in. I'd love to see them blend a bit more.

  11. I've read that some crackle polishes are water-based, so it makes sense to me that actual watercolors would crack when applied to nails, too. Interesting idea--you're so creative!

    1. Thank you Karen, I tried with some Pastel pencils, but could make it work, so next step was this. That's interesting, I didn't know that! But actually I'm not sure it cracked until I put my top coat over - I'll be more aware the next time I try...
