A color I usually hate - Artsy Wednesday

The theme of this Artsy Wednesday is a color you usually hate – and even if I prefer not to use grey or brown, I do not hate them. But some kinds of nudes  looks so terrible on me, and China Glaze Sunset Sail is one of them.
So to make a color clashing against your skin, you need to find colors that work with the clashing color and your skin, and paint nail art close to the cuticle line and sides of the nails, this way you draw the attention away from the obvious clash.
I used acrylic craft colors and top coated with Seche Vite – but I still removed it right after taking these pictures…

Check out the other girls Artsy Wednesday mani's
Michelle - Lab Muffin
Melanie - Nail & Polish
Jessica - Beauty Gnome
Emily - An Accent Nail
Catrine - Unnakednails
Ameerah - Valiantly Varnished
Wendy - M.A.S.P.O.O.A.S.E.

    1. I like nudes on others - but I cannot explain why I don't like it on myself LOL - I think maybe I feel like skin is growing on my nails :)
Thanks a lot Lillibit, I'm so happy you like it!

  3. Very pretty design! I have the same problem with nudes... and yet, I have a lot of them. They make a nice base though, just like for your manicure today. :)

    1. I'm afraid so - mostly because I only did one hand - could of course have done the other one - but LOL
      Thank you so much, Katherine!

  13. I know what you mean about nude colours - I find that if they're too close to my skin colour they look weird, but if I have the right nude colour, it looks really glamorous and polished. But I don't think this actually looks that bad on you! I also do the painting-around-the-cuticle thing, but being a non-flower girl, I usually just do a ruffian.

    1. LOL, I don't think there is a right nude for me, I would love to finde one, because they can be very elegant :)
And yes, ruffians are great for this too - thanks a lot Michelle :)

  15. Omigosh, Maria, LOVE! I have a hard time finding the right neutral/nude too and usually find them kind of boring, but I am so crazy about what you did with these! The sweet, bright flowers make an amazing contrast. ^_^
