Thoughts... Instagram and other social media

Who would have thought that little old me with a touch of anti social media tendencies - ever would understand that there is a difference in a tag and a hashtag, let alone what kind of thingies they are and that hash isn't the same as the drug (hash is the Danish work for hashish)...?
Well I recently bought a new mobile, a Sony Xperia Z3 - and before I knew it, I a week ago caved in to the pressure and joined Instagram - heavily pushed by Miriam from NailTalk. who kindly answered my silly questions!
I almost could hear her fall to the floor laughing, when I told her I had no idea what a hashtag was - nor that it was different from a tag ;)

I hate to admit it, I think it's so much fun, so I don't plan to leave any day soon...
So if you are in Instagram, I hope you would like to follow me?

You can do it from a computer - just follow this link to Instagram, log in to your Instagram and click the follow button..

- or you can log into Instagram from you mobile and search for mariasnailartandpolishblog and follow!!

I also post occasional cat photos - because snapping photos with my new mobile is so easy :D

  5. I must admit I'm not on social media. My husband joined FB in the summer there and found it to be really good, especially now he's at college, he can talk to the other folks on the course about things. He's quite particular about who he adds and has private settings.

My best friend was on FB for years and he kept on at me to join it - every day he'd text me or phone me to say join FB. Then he started getting issues with people (stalking and the likes on FB). He then couldn't take it and deleted his profile. I now, often tease him about going on at me to join.

I really do think it's got good points and bad points. But having come across people (not just my best friend) who have experienced the negative side of it, that really put me off. Maybe I'm just not ready for it yet, I don't know. LOL I've resisted all these years from joining, who knows.

My husband keeps telling me to do it, just for my blogs. AND one of my friends who suffered (he's better now) from social phobia even signed up to join FB :-O

I recently got my first touch screen phone, my husband upgraded so I got his old Samsung. I really find it hard to use and annoying. I miss my buttons! I've only got a few apps on it. One for my network so I can check my usage and a flash light (which is VERY handy). He keeps telling me to get other apps this and other apps that. But that world seems alien to me :-|

I checked your Instagram and loving the two photos of the cats <3 That one of Tyson is amazing :-D

    1. I think the most important thing is to use the social medias in a way that makes you feel OK with it - not let them be a stress and something you HAVE to do, but something you CAN do if you feel for it and have the time.
I cannot work with a small screen, I have issues in both shoulders and neck, but the Sony Xperia Z3 has a really nice size, and you can get a stylo for your screen - making it easier.
A tablet/Ipad is of course even easier to use, so that's also an option...

I think that Tyson photo is so fun, it really looks like he is thinking OH noez, I over ate AGAIIINNNN....

    2. Yeah that's it. I guess it's just not for me at this moment in time!

Hehe I have a pen for my phone and tend to use it more than the touch screen. Handwriting recongnition is great for me. We have a few tablets in the house and I really struggle with them! Anything like blogging, emailing or writing I will always do on my desktop! I only really use them for surfing or quickly checking something on google. My husband does get the full benefit of them so that's good. He's practically gone paperless at college with his note taking! :-)

Lol I told him about this post and what I commented and he called me a 'dinosaur'!!!! ;-)

    3. It's OK to be a dinosaur - remember we might not exist today as the human race if they hadn't been around ;)
And maybe one day you suddenly get smitten with some kind of social media - and if not, I'm sure you will live perfectly happy without it!!

  8. I'm so happy to see you at Instagram, Maria:) I was sure you'll be there soon:)

I don't like social media at all except Instagram. I'm there almost 2 years and still like it. It's easy to download pictures there and find lots of swatches which you couldn't find anywhere or see swatches of just new launched collections. So I found out that Insta is easy and fun:)

    1. Aww, thank you so much :)
I think Instaram is more complicated than Pinterest and Facebook - it's basically just one click.
For me to upload to Instagram I need to send myself an email with the photos and I also write the text so that I can copy and paste it. Then I need to access the email from my mobile, download photos and copy the text, so I do find it time consuming, and I wish there were links for each blog post, but that's not allowed...

  9. I love social media! It's a great way to network and keep up with people and brands. It does have it's pit falls, but if people are smart about it I don't see a problem. Which is why I am glad none of it was around when I was an early teen. I would have said the dumbest things :P

    1. LOL - I'm sith you on the teenage part, I'm also glad it wasn't around back then.
And I think it's terrible how some teens are affected by the social media, either being totally controlled by them - or mobbing...
