BCN stamping plates review - and bad Glam My Mani customer service!

WARNING: Glam My Mani sell these plates as their own at $7 each + shipping if you are outside USA.
But much to my surprise I received BCN plates (sold on Ebay at $1.29 each including shipping) from Glam My Mani!

On the Glam My Mani website you cannot see the letters or numbers on the plate images, but they call them GMM plus the number.
In my naivety I thought I had come across an indie plate maker.

I only bought two, but frankly I felt cheated and angry when I found out!
I sent Glam My Mani a polite email asking them why they call these plates their own and do not inform the customers, that it is BCN plates.
But they didn’t even care to reply :(

But back to the plates...
The plates come with blue protective film and they do not have a plastic backing or film on the back side.
On some of the plates the edges are a bit sharp, so careful handling is necessary.
Some plates and patterns are clearly copied from other brands.

The plate size:  6 x 12 cm.
The pattern size The smallest patterns are 2.3 x 1.5 cm – many are bigger.
The price is approximately $1.29 including shipping on Ebay and $7 from Glam My Mani.
The etching varies from medium to shallow, but most of the plates work well.
Where to buy: Ebay or Glam My Mani (if you want to pay 5-6 times more than you need to).

Let's meet the plates I have!
Remember you can click on the photos to see an enlarged version.
The fine lines transferred very well on plate BCN-005 at the top in the previous photo.
- but not all patterns on BCN-006 transferred super well as you can see in this mani...
The base is Lacquester Rosington stamped with Pueen 805 Black Jack (Super Intense), plate BCN 006, stamper Fab Ur Nails Jumbo Stamper.

Nice transfer...

My favorite of them all is BCN-018 - see mani below...
The base is Black Dahlia Lacquer Bird of Paradise stamped with Pueen 100 White in White (Color Intense), plate BCN-018, stamper Fab Ur Nails Jumbo Stamper.

So, what do I think..?
Pros:
There are many beautiful and varied patterns.

Cons:
Most plates work really well, but a few patterns are too shallow for my liking – they possibly will work with an old Konad (hard rubber) stamper – as most temperamental plates do.
I don't like that more of the plates - possibly all are copies of other brands plates.

Final conclusion: Overall they are very nice.

Would I like to buy more? I wouldn’t mind, but given the number of 100% well working brands and plates in my collection + the copy part, I probably never will!

  1. Some of the patterns are literally stolen from a Polish stamping plates producer, B. Loves Plates.
I see many lovely patterns there!

    1. Yes, that clearly is a problem - with many cheap (and more expensive) plates.
In general I have found quite a few patterns on more plates from different brands, so a lot of copying is done out there in plate-world...

  2. The nautical plate is gorgeous. Those ropes are fantastic.
The unethical behaviour of GMM is appalling.

  3. Like A. wrote many of those designs were stolen from elsewhere, you can see especially on the BCN003 where they copied the whole plate including the signature of the designer (Pet'la Plates). I fell from these lovely plates myself (from another seller) but since I learned they were copies I don't feel like reaching for them anymore :(

    1. Yes, it is terrible, especially in the Pet'la case, they do not even try to hide it...
And I agree - I also do not support that!

  5. Thank you for a very helpful review! I actually never thought about buying stamping plates on ebay but I'm going to look into it. Dock you have any budget favourites? I would like more stamping plates but I would prefer them to be on the cheaper side:)

    1. Born Pretty Store and Major Dijit/Major Digit, but the latter is from AliExpress - both are really good and inexpensive!
