The sight you do so NOT want to see on a Saturday morning...

I have a frustrating experience to share with you, the true NPA's among you knows how this feels...

When I got up and out of the bedroom on Saturday morning I wondered WHAT is that smell, WHY does it smell like that and I remember thinking that it smelled like cellulose thinner.
But when I got downstairs and opened the door to the living room I knew...
My first thought was: How many fatalities and casualties..?

Fortunately I keep 99% of my polishes in drawers, but I keep a number of toppers in acrylic racks on the glass shelf - see my setup HERE - and this what it normally looks like:

But this was the sight that met me Saturday morning - and before I took the photos I already had picked up a handful of polishes as I started working my way through puddles of clear nail polish with flakies or glitters... 

The fatalities are 6-8 effect topper polishes, both my LARGE crystal files that I cannot live without, a glass in which I had brushes...
The casualties are the two small acrylic racks that the toppers used to be in are not broken, one is a little stained, the other one got really stained when Max Factor Fantasy Fire died all over it (including the purple on the floor). Some of the tiles and the glass shelf got minor marks.
After 3+ hours of heavy duty floor and furniture cleaning fortunately things were back to normal except for a few flakies and glitters that escaped the cleaning and are shining on the floor when the sun hits them.
The glass shelf also is back in place - but with a safer mounting...

I guess I'm the eternal optimist, I always try to keep focus on the good things in life - and I feel it could have been much, much worse.
Three new polishes from a brand new indie brand, a very rare Chanel, and a few other unswatched polishes were on the top of the metal suitcase, and they all survived - I'm truly thankful of that!!
Further more and most of all - I had a breakfast appointment with a friend of mine here at our place, and she can bend her knees and kneel down (I cannot after surgery in both knees + the surgery/problems with neck and shoulders), so she did the heavy duty work - thank you so, so much my dear friend, I feel so lucky and grateful <3

Hahahaha Saturday evening we got some kind of explanation...
Since early summer a very shy and easily spooked feral cat have been hanging around our place (we live in the countryside), and I have worked with him and made him more and more confident. 2 months ago we lured him into a trap and had him neutered. Food is an essential part of taming a feral cat, and around the time he got neutered, he started arriving each evening around dinner time to get some "people food" (non of our other 3 cats get that).
In the middle of November I was able to touch him for the first time. Over the last 3 weeks he increasingly enjoys being cuddled - but he still is easily spooked, so we sometimes gets a paw full of claws, but not often...
He also spends more and more time here. Anyhow - a few evenings ago I saw him try to follow one of the other cats up on the fridge where they have a soft pillow. Saturday morning he arrived in the middle of all the confusion - and seemed very spooked. But in the evening he came in time for dinner - and guess who had spots of polish with glitter and flakies in his fur on the back, one cheek and a leg - well yes of course Tyson, the most masculine cat around LOL
I'm guess he tried to use the shelf to enter the top of the fridge and as it wasn't too stable it fell down, fortunately not on him because it's very heavy - but he fell to the floor in a rain of falling polish bottles landing with the breaking around him - poor him...
