Beer nails - øl negle - bier nagel - combining two passions!

Dansk se længere nede.
Besides nail polish one of my other huge passions is rating and enjoying well crafted beers.
I hope that this crazy post and idea could inspire at least one woman to try something else than the dull, average pale lager, that only makes you burp :)
I’m the top female rater of beers on RateBeer I have been inactive the last few months, because of my nail polish passion, but I do have a lot of ratings in my backlog, and will get back.
Today some of my dear beer friends come for dinner and a few beers, so to celebrate that, I decided to make beer nails.

On my thumbs I have a stout, it also might be a porter or even an Imperial Stout. Pitch black and often with a huge brownish head. The aroma and flavor have notes of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, coffee, not necessarily all, but definitely some of these notes. They can be sweet and soft, bitter – or anything in between. Many women hesitate to try them, but I can tell you – if you give them a fair chance, you’ll learn to love them.
On my pointer fingers I have a German Weissbier also called German Hefe Weizen brewed like only the brewers in Bavaria can brew them. It’s a sweet beer brewed with wheat, and it comes in different disguises in different countries, but my clear favorite is the Bavarian Weissbier with strong notes of banana, yeast (that gives spicy notes) and a little wheat. You need to roll the bottle before serving, it’s important that the yeast is mixed with the rest of the beer. The color in the glass should be unclear in a golden shade, unless of course it’s a dunkel weizen (dark). When first poured it has a HUUUGE head, and it’s best served in the tall weissbier glass. My nail should have been much longer to make this glass look right, you can find a glass as the final photo. Bonus info: Pouring a beer so that the foam builds up is good, because this opens aroma and flavor even better.

On my middle fingers I have a German Helles. I prefer those brewed in Bavaria with lovely bready and flowery notes.
On my ring fingers I have I have a tradional ale. It covers a lot of different ales, and they come in different colors, so it could be much lighter in color than this one. The ingredients vary, but I love the one with fruity, citrusy notes on a base of caramel.
On my pinkies I have a Framboise, a spontaneous fermented lambic-fruit beer made with raspberries. It's pink with a pinkish head. Some of them are more sweet or sour than others, I like them not too extreme in either directions. But the Framboise is definitely my favorite within limbic-fruit beers.

I hope you found this design a little fun – and maybe got a little focused on beers, ladies. RateBeer is IMO the best beer site in the world, and you are more than welcome!!
Feel free to ask questions!

    1. Thank you SO much Kas, it could be so fun if you would start rating on Ratebeer too. There are a lot of local communities where Ratebeerians can meet nice people and share beers - it's so fun and a great way to get to know beers you never thought would exist LOL

  7. Randomly found this post- it's so creative! I love it. I also love hearing about your other passion! I have to admit, I do not frequently drink beer, as I prefer hard liquor, but maybe this will encourage me to try it more often. Your description (and depiction!) of the Framboise is very enticing.
