Abstract swirls and thingies with shaky hands and a Northern Birch Mouse...

I was a bit shaky when I did this mani, scroll down to see below…

The base color is Sation Oh My Oceania, a beautiful green with teal reflection. I had this vision of pretty swirls and patterns in a partially mixed gold and pink acrylic color, but ah well, the gold wasn’t quite as cooperative as I wanted, so this is what I ended up whit… The top coat is Seche Vite.

The Northern Birch Mouse (Sicista betulina) is THE most endangered mammal in Denmark, and we are lucky enough to live smack in the middle of one of its very few habitats. It’s not a “real” mouse, it hibernates from October to May (yes that is an extremely long time). During the day it goes into a day-hibernation, it’s nocturnal and forages on insects and grass seeds. It moves slower than mice, uses the long tail when climbing the grass straws, and it’s such a pretty little creature with the characteristic black stripe down the back.
When it’s scared it cries the most heartbreaking cry – and right when I had put Oh My Oceania on, one was brought into the house by Findus, one of my cats…. It’s was very alive, and I reacted quickly, lured the cat to let go (using treats, I trained him to do so), put him in another room, located the now very scared little guy, grabbed him and put him in a plastic tub while I made a home for him with straw, a little nest, food, water etc. – because I wanted to make sure he was OK and not going to die before releasing him. All that - and finishing my mani, hiding the dented spots I got during it all, so it's a bit distracted and shaky :)
To cut a long short, after a few days we released him late evening in the area where we think he came from, he was fat and very much alive :)
