Times Late Edition by The New Black - newspaper print - avistryk

The New Black is a company that sells you ideas and the right tools to follow them through, take for example this set of easy to do newspaper print set - that comes in 3 versions, check them out HERE!

The set that was sent to me for my honest review is the Times Late Edition, that comes with a grey base color, and as in the other sets: printed paper - and when you transfer the text it is readable unlike if you use newspaper, that's a cool detail, transfer solution and top coat.
And the easy step by step tutorial is found inside the set and as a video on the Nail Art Tutorials Page - click HERE - choose the video called Typography!

I followed the tutorial step by step, cut the paper, added my normal base coat, applied 2 coats of the grey polish, one coat could have been enough if my nails were without ridges, and I was pleased the the polish is easy to apply and dried quickly.
The I waited until the polish was completely dry and one nail at the time I added transfer solution to the nail, placed the piece of printed paper with the printed side down, added more transfer solution to the surface of the paper, and held it towards the nail for 30 seconds, gently rolling a finger in a gently pressing motion all the time.

I was very pleased to see how well the print transferred, the best I have tried yet.
I waited more than the suggested "few moments" (I waited a couple of minutes) to make sure the solution had dried away, but non the less, when I top coated with the included top coat, the lovely, crisp print was dragged and smudged, so I had to redo a nail!
So what you see is a slightly smudged thumb and pinkie with the original (glossy) top coat - and the 3 middle fingers are top coated with Essie Matte About You, because I find the matte finish perfect for newspaper print!
Those of you who know my blog might know that I not am fond of grey nail polish, but in this case I actually liked it!
Overall thoughts: The polish is easy to apply, dries quickly and the transfer paper and solution works like a charm - but I prefer to use a different top coat than the one included.
So I can most definitely recommend these sets!

A twist on newsprint - newspaper nails - avis negle - Artsy Wednesday

Dansk, se længere nede.
Since I already did a tutorial on how to do newspaper – or newsprint nails, I decided to do ripped, folded and partially stuck newspaper, when I saw the title of this week’s challenge in Artsy Wednesday: Newsprint!
The base color is Catrice 020 Cotton Candy At Eiffel Tower (a sheer and shiny nude), I wanted a not really white. For the print I let the newspaper soak a longer time than in my tutorial – click HERE, I ripped and folded the pieces a bit, I rolled them for a longer time and left them sitting on the nail until some of the paper stuck to the nail before I carefully removed the rest. When dry I placed tiny flowers (painted in acrylic color) on the newspaper, like someone was working with flowers on newspaper…
Finally I top coated with Seche Vite – and later with Essie Matte About You, but I don’t really know which version I prefer…
What is your favorite - glossy or matte?
Check out what the other girls in Artsy Wednesday did in this weeks challenge
Michelle at Lab Muffin,  Alanna at Pretty Purple Polish, Holly at Hooked, Tif at Polished Genious, Lyndsey at Nails by Ms. Lizard, Sofie from Swååfie, Catrine from Unnakednails, Jessica at Beauty Gnome
This week Melanie at Nail & Polish, didn't have the time, but she'll be back next week!
