Confidential flowers

The base color is Nailstation Confidentiel, see swatches HERE, and I thought I was smart to add a coat of Lynnderella Sapphire Starfire (to please my glitter loving readers ;) – but I wasn’t, it looks terrible – so please disregard my ring finger, and look at the rest. The flowers are painted with acrylic color and the top coat is Seche Vite.

I will show my birth month polish, Lynnderella Sapphire Starfire in a seperate post later.

Marimekko inspired - Artsy Wednesday

As promised earlier today...
Our theme in this Artsy Wednesday is inspired by design.

I immediately thought of the most iconic and easily recognizable pattern from the Finish Marimekko, namely the Unikko pattern – the huuuuge, bold and colorful flowers, that I loved as a child, and still love.

Fun facts: Marimekko was founded just a few years before I was born. My parents were from Finland, and my mum never stopped loving Finish design (I still love it), even after we moved to Demark. During my childhood and teens I wore different kinds of Marimekko clothes, it was a very nice quality of cotton, and very nice to wear. Ah well, sorry, I got a bit sentimental there for a moment ;)

 

 

The base color is one coat of Oopsie Dasies Conch Shell from Edgy Polish (sent for review) over a coat of white polish (OPI Alpine Snow), that I showed you swatches of a few hours ago – click HERE. 

Conch Shell has tiny blue glitters and reminds me of fabric, thus perfect for my idea. 

I should not have painted the Marimekko Unikko flowers from my memory without googling them first, then they might have been better and prettier, but here my version is in acrylic craft paint. To add a little extra bling I added a coat of P2 Glamorous Finish Holo top coat 040 Just Fantastic! before I top coated with Seche Vite.

Oopsie Daisies Conch Shell swatches

Later today I will show you nail art on Oopsie Daisies Conch Shell, that I recieved from Edgy Polish to review - so I thought it would be nice to see it without nail art first...

Oopsie Daisies Conch Shell is a ever so slightly grey-toned white base with mostly blue but also a little purple micro glitters. It's easy to work with and the dry time is good. First I show it in 3 coats - and the last two photos are 1 coat over a white under wear! No top coat on either...

 

 

 

 

And on the last two photos Conch Shell is shown over a white polish as under wear (OPI Alpine Snow)

Lilypad Laquer swatches: My Enchantmint and Popping Purple

Today I have swatches of two Australian 3-free and cruelty free polishes from Lilypad Laquers, sent to me for review from Norway Nails

My Enchantmint and Popping Purple both have a subtle holo effect.
The formula is flawless, so they are very easy to apply, and the dry time is good. They are shown in 2 coats and without a top coat.

 

 

 

My Enchantmint is a lovely mint with a subtle - but for a pastel fairly good holo effect...

 

 

 

Popping Purple is a warm-toned medium purple with a slightly more evident holo effect in the sun than on these photos. But I was surprised that it wasn't stronger, since the purple is fairly dark...

Overall thoughts: Holographic polishes usually seem to "slim down" when they dry - and even if I use a ridge filler base coat and Seche Vite top coat, my ridges are very evident, when I wear a holographic polishes. But not with these - they were much more like a good-quality cream polish on my nails, and I loved that!

4 shades of yellow: Picture Polish Mellow Yellow, Nailstation Lightening Lemon, Linda Johansen Spring Yellow and Nailstation Confidentiel - swatches

When I recently chatted with Wenche from Norway Nails we also talked about future blogger samples, and I mentioned 4 yellow polishes I would love to blog about...
We continued chatting - and then some minutes later she wrote the words, I never will forget because I laughed so hard: Are you SURE you want that many yellows in your parcel.....???
Well as I was about to shop in her store anyhow, so I bought Picture Polish Mellow Yellow myself to ease the shocked Wenches mind  ;)

4 lovely shades of yellow

 

First we have Picture Polish Mellow Yellow, it's a pretty pastel yellow with a  fabulous formula, two easy coats over my ridge filler base coat. No top coat.

 

Nailstation Lightening Lemon is in fact not that at all, it's a pretty yellow in a shade that I call a bright pastel - mellow and lovely. This is also two easy coats over my ridge filler base coat. No top coat.

 

Spring Yellow from Linda Johansen is a yellow that reminds me of the ripening peal of a banana, or you could say a yellow with a touch of papaya - hard to describe and unique in my collection. This also was two easy coats over my ridge filler base coat. No top coat.

 

Nailstation Confidentiel - a bright, happy and summer-y lemon yellow, not a neon, but very bold and bright. I love my pastel yellows, but I also think that this type of yellow is pure perfection! You see two easy coats over my ridge filler base coat. No top coat.

Orly Sweet coll. swatches: Snowcone, Lemonade and Lollipop

Today I have 3 polishes from the Orly Sweets collection to show you. The collection was released in the spring of 2010, but I got mine recently. They are however very lovely pastel colors, that are timeless....

 

 

First we have Orly Snowcone. This is ONE coat and no top coat, and if I would have worn this without nail art and a top coat, I would have used two coats, but only because of my ridges, it really was completely opaque in one coat!

 

 

Next we have Orly Lomonade a - it's a perfect pastel yellow with a flawless formula. This is 2 coats and no top coat.

 

 

Finally we have orly Lollipop, a lilac with pink undertones. This formula was a bit tricky/goopy, and I had to apply 3 coats to even things put - very unlike the nice formula of the other two...
