MoYou Nails stamping plates review

No, it’s not MoYou London – it is MoYou Nails – both are from the UK and both are located in London, so a bit confusing, right :D
MoYou Nails ships Internationally, and if you only buy plates a part of the shipping will be refunded. They also have distributors in some other countries, the countries are named, but not with any links to the shops.

The plates are individually packed and come with blue protective film and the square plates have a plastic backing, the round have a film on the back side – no sharp edges.
The patterns are rather old school, also in pattern size, but they do have a few full-pattern round plates and some square plates that are pretty cool.

The plate size:  The square plates are 5.8 x 5.8 cm and WITH the plastic backing 6.2 x 6.2 cm. The round plates have a 5.5 cm diameter.
The pattern size The patterns on round plates are from 1.5 x 1.8 cm to full patterns and on the square plates they vary a little around 1.5/6 x 1.7/8 cm.
The price for each plate is £6.99 for the square plates and £4.99 for the round plates.
The etching is an average medium depth, I did however have problems with the finer lines in one plate.
Where to buy: From MoYou Nails – and apparently some distributors that are not named on the website.

But let's say hello to the ones I bought - and some of the manis - click on the photos to see a larger version:
The base is Emily de Molly Spell Check stamped with Pueen 813 Mermaid Green (Super Intense), plate MoYou Nails 414, stamper Fab Ur Nails Jumbo Stamper.

The base is ILNP Pucker Up stamped with Pueen 100 White in White (Color Intense), plate MoYou Nails 303, stamper Fab Ur Nails Clear Jumbo Stamper.

The base is Chanel Magnetique – Copper Magnet 95 stamped with Moyra 17 Vanilla, plate MoYou Nails 403, stamper Fab Ur Nails Jumbo Stamper.

The base is Emily de Molly Brick is Dead stamped with Messy Mansion Sterling, plate MoYou Nails 308, stamper Fab Ur Nails Jumbo Stamper.
I’m not happy with the way the fine lines came out – even if I chose a polish and stamper that gave me the least problems. The pattern on my ring finger is however OK, and I’m not saying it’s the plates fault – but it does not work for me….

So, what do I think?

Pros:
I found the etching OK and most plates easy to use.
The plate photos/images on the website are easy to see.

Cons:
The pattern size does not fit long nails, I can make most fit on my nail length if I’m careful, but I would like them to be bigger.
The plastic backing on the square plates makes them a bit too big for storing in traditional plate holders.
The choice of patterns is generally not very novel – all seen before and has that old school stamping plates feel to them.
I miss info on distributors in other countries.
I miss information on the plate size and pattern size on the website.

Final conclusion: The plates are OK as such, but I do not feel they are unique, and I’m not really impressed by them as they are at the moment.

Buy again? No, I don’t think so.

  2. I hate that they change the look of their plates from time to time, but keep the same name/number. However, I do like the plates themselves. They work for me quite well, although I don't have as vast collection of image plates as you so I can compare them to a much smaller selection.

  6. Nice review - it's always appreciated that you are honest and informative. I really like the design you did with plate 403. Seems like they are hit & miss with their plate selection - especially now with so many stamping plate makers. ;)
