My stamping journey - part 9

Times flies and this is part 9 already with my stamping trials take 41 to 45.
This time I only am happy about two of them, so a step back compared with part 8!

Take 41:
Take 41: Base Elevation Polish Plum Zingers and New Nicknames stamped with Colour Alike B. a Lilac Sweater, plate Bundle Monster BM-XL204, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: Maybe not perfect – I still love it!!

Take 42:
Take 42: Base Elevation Polish Space Raspberries & Rhum stamped with Colour Alike B. a Raindrop, plate Born Pretty Store BPL-026, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly for the index and middle and MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky for the ring finger and pinkie, read why below.
Note to myself: I had the door open – but it still was 24 degrees Celsius, so I learned how much that speeds up the dry time after scraping and reduces the time-frame for the pickup, that a super light scraping is mandatory – and that I’m still too much of a newbie to pull all of that off with a clear stamper!! SO my beloved MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky rescued me! The middle finger really shows my problems :) (and no, I could not have removed that stamp with acetone, the shimmer is too heavy in that polish).
It could have been a nice mani, but in person it was OK…

Take 43:
Take 43: Base Grace-full Nail Polish Magenta Sparks stamped with Konad Blue, plate Born Pretty Store Qgirl-048, stamper MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky.
Note to myself: Just as hot as yesterday – way too little sleep – should have stuck with my initial thought not to do any nail art and/or possibly not even change my mani. Uninspired and not well stamped – baaahhh… (the next morning I felt better and was feeling better about it ;)

Take 44:
Take 44: Base Enchanted Polish Entwined stamped with Colour Alike B. a Sweetheart, plate Born Pretty Store Qgirl-049, stamper MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky.
Note to myself: That went fairly – but I so wish that I always could make the Colour Alike CREAM stamping polishes work no matter stamper, plate or weather. It annoys me that I cannot break that code.
Yesterday when it was hot indoors I tested a LOT of cream polishes on paper, they ALL worked, also my Konad creames – but not the CA’s…. Or rather sometimes they did, but then they stuck to the stamper before it hit the paper :(

Take 45:
Take 45: Base the old Chanel Ruse stamped with Colour Alike B. an Orion, plate MoYou London Enchanted 15, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: Not bad!
So my favorites are the first (take 41) and the last (take 45) - what's yours...?

My stamping journey - part 8

It's time for part 8, Take 36 - 40 in My stamping journey - this time I'm actually pretty happy about four out of five, I look forward to your thoughts...

Take 36:
Take 36: Base Picture Polish Allure stamped with MoYou London Black Knight, plate Infinity Nails 90, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: I’m not quite sure I like this hard contrast, but in the sun it looked amazing…

Take 37:
Take 37: Base Nine Zero Wavelenght stamped with Colour Alike B. a Supernova, plate MoYou London Pro XL 10, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: I like it a lot, some of the really thin lines probably would have been more crisp if I had used the MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky stamper, but in person it was fine. It could have been cool id Supernova had been duochrome also on the nails…

Take 38:
Take 38: Base Pahlish Psychedelic Angel stamped with Konad White, plate Bundle Monster BM-S303, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: I love how crisp this is, not bad…

Take 39:
Take 39: Base Rica This Heart of Mine stamped with Colour Alike B. an Orion, plate Born Pretty Store BPL-029, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: The multichrome was quite fascinating over the holo, unfortunately not so easy to see in the photos. But I cannot make up my mind, I probably prefer a stronger contrast…

Take 40:
Take 40: Base Elevation Polish Dark Territory stamped with MoYou London Banana Ice, plate Bundle Monster BM-XL205, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.
Note to myself: Middle finger had “dry lace” from the pattern, that curled up when I lifted the stamper – not good…

So, as always I look forward to your comments and thoughts :)

My stamping journey - part 7

Are you ready for my stamping trials take 31 to 35?
I am super happy about take 32, and I really love take 33 and 34!

Take 31
Take 31: Base is Different Dimension Hubble stamped with A-England Perceval and Konad White, plate Infinity Nails 137, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly!
Note to myself: OMG the Dashica Jumbo Clear Jelly stamper just arrived and it works amazingly from first try stamping on paper, wow a new favorite along with my MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky – but I still need a bit of practice on nails I see hahaha…
I was too quick to add TC and smudged one of the white patterns.

Take 32:
Take 32: Base is Nine Zero Reflect stamped with Colour Alike B. a Red Wine, plate Infinity Nails 90, stamper MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky White.
Note to myself: Did you really do this Maria? – nah, it must have been some stamping fairy doing my nails. I loved this mani and had a hard time convincing myself to remove it the next day.

Take 33
Take 33: Base Nine Zero Refraction stamped with Color by Llarowe Enchanted Forest stamping polish, plate MoYou London Enchanted 15, stamper MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky.
Note to myself: Not bad – and the two holos flared as if they were competing, when I was out in the sun :D

Take 34
Take 34: Base Color Club Over The Moon stamped with MoYou London Black Knight, plate Moyra Primavera 24, stampers Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly stamper on index and middle on ring and pinkie MoYou London XL Marshmallow Sticky.
Note to myself: OK, it’s far from perfect, but I still love it. Barn swallows mean a lot to me, and our Barn swallows arrived after their long journey from Africa a few days prior to me making this mani.
I have heard many other newbies also have problems picking up crisp patterns from Moyra plates, I even read that some plates are not well etched, so OF COURSE I needed to buy some :D – but I also loved what I saw in the patterns, so a challenge for me in learning to stamp from all plates - and pretty patterns!

Take 35
Take 35: Base Enchanted Polish November 2013 stamped with Catrice Blurred Limes, plate Bundle Monster BM-XL 206, stamper Daschica Jumbo Clear Jelly.

Note to myself: Hmmm it’s not the most obvious color combination, it was a spur of the moment thing, but I had hoped the lime green would be more lime and opaque – but ah well…

My favorite is without doubt take 32, but I also really love take 33 and 34!

Stamping trial and error - part 1

Some of you might have noticed that I started buying stamping plates, polishes and other cool gear and were curious about what I was dong with it LOL
At first I thought it would be nice to have (yeah, I love cool gear and gadgets), but then I took the leap and jumped right into it - and now I'm hooked - but seriously lacking the skills ;)
So welcome to the first part of Stamping trial and error posts, the naked truth nothing hidden or not shown, so be prepared for a good laugh!

Prior to Take 1: I have been trying so use the gorgeous Color by Llarowe stamping polishes – one of the reasons I wanted to learn to stamp along with all the wonderful full pattern and XL pattern stamping plates that are sold!
But I couldn't even make my stampers pick up the pattern.
Major internal hissy fit.
Primed my stampers accordingly to recommendations, of course no filing of the clear ones, but no difference.
More internal hissy fits!!!

OK, on to the first real trials and errors on my nails.

Disclaimer: No live nails were hurt during the trials and errors, some did have minor depressions tho! :D

Take 1: Base color Different Dimension Mother Goose, MoYou Suki Coll. Plate 07, stamping polish Barry M Foil Effects 320, stamper Creative Shop Space Collection.
One single pickup, pressed fingers one by one to use the entire pick up on the large surface!
Result not super crisp, but I love how it would have looked if I were good at it…
Note to myself: Of course it's easy to do a single pick up, but it probably is better to wait until I'm more experienced.
Use pure acetone in the future for cleaning plates.
I still couldn’t pick up any of the CbL stamping polishes, tiny hissy fit.
I read this wonderful and thorough review lacquerlockdown.com and now realize that the CbL’s dry super fast, I asked for help and during the night here in Denmark I got a long and thorough response, thank you so much <3
Later same day a friend asked me: Do you press too hard, and bingo, I instantly knew she was right!
Tomorrow I’m changing that!

Take 2: Base color is Cupcake Polish Light of My Life, MoYou Suki Coll. Plate 06, stamping polish Konad Black. Started with index and middle fingers using Picture Polish Clear Jelly Stamper, and retrospect I realized I still was pressing too hard, I can roll it in a soft movement hahaha (like I have seen so many times on videos, I must be really, really dumb hahaha).
For the ring and pinkie fingers I used my Creative Shop Space Collection stamper, and the pinkie is actually close to really OK.
I also tried my CbL’s and WOHOO I could pick up parts of the pattern now that I didn’t press, at least with my PP stamper.
Note to myself: Definitely use liquid latex when stamping with black, a PITA to clean up. Save CbL’s until I get much more experienced like in 25 years or so :D

Take 3 Hahahaha terrible one, could have been nice tho ;) Base color is Bliss Polish Different Not Less, MoYou Suki Coll. Plate 06, stamping polish Konad White. I decided only to use my Picture Polish Clear Jelly Stamper, and after a few less fortunate pickups that I removed with tape, I got more confident. Index finger, hmmm maybe I pressed too hard down on the nail, the pattern slightly broke. The clear view confused me in middle and ring, so I touched the nail with part of the pattern before I eventually pressed down tsk tsk. Pinkie was however really good!
Note to myself: I could have removed the small part of the stamping with acetone, and done it all over again – remember please LOL

Take 4 Base color is Colors by Llarowe Nail Mail, MoYou Suki Coll. Plate 08, stamping polish Barry M Foil Effects 320, stamper Creative Shop Space Collection with one signle large stamp/pickup, pressed fingers one by one to use the entire pick up on the large surface, all 5 fingers! I even did my right hand. Result not super crisp, but acceptable for the naked eye on my left hand, not at all good om my non-swatching right hand LOL
Note to myself: It seems like that Barry M and the Creative Shop stamper works really well in combination. I still am having problems making it pick up a lot of other stamping colors…
I need to work on the speed on my right hand, so from now on I will practice on both hands…
This was the first stamping mani, that I actually wore, it was becoming late in the day before I had the time to do my nails…

Take 5 Base coat is Picture Polish Shocked and as my 27 new Colour Alike Stamping Polishes arrived today, I couldn’t wait to test them. I chose the metallic B. a Twilight, the plate is Bundle Monster BMXL206 (Blogger collaboration coll.) and the stamper is my nameless new clear jumbo stamper from Rainbow Connection, squishy and nice.

Note to myself: I should have tested the stamping polish over the base color, it is too dark at least with a dense pattern like this. Tried to remove it with acetone on the index when I realized, but the silver was left behind, actually a pretty cool effect.

Well that was my first 5 trials and errors - more to come...

Swatch Saturday: China Glaze Electric Beat, Kinetic Candy & Gaga for Green swatches and review

All 3 colors are from the ElectroPop Collection, spring 2012, I bought 7, see them HERE  They are all shown in two coats (Kinetic Candy only one), and without top coat. They apply nicely and dry quickly, the usual great China Glaze quality…
Electric Beat - strong, light blue
Gaga For Green - in-your-face light green - see stamping on this below
Kinetic Candy - a pale, light blue with a light grey hue
I'm NOT good at stamping, but China Glaze Gaga For Green called for leaves – the light green leaves that the beech has in spring. I chose the easy solution and stamped with Konad Special Polish White and Bundle Monster plate BM19. This is from their first series of plates with the tiny patterns, so on my thumb I used it vertically on the lower half, and then stamped half the pattern over the top half of the nail, a bit messy, but I can accept it. Unfortunately the pattern on the ring finger a bit broken.

Stamped zebra - plate comparison - plade sammenligning

Dansk, se længere nede.
I have 4 different brands of stamping plates with 5 different zebra patterns, so I decided to make a comparison. Base color is China Glaze Midnight Kiss, stamping color is Konad Black.
But remember, it's easy to paint your own zebra stripes, you do not need a plate!
Pinkie plate from Essence, no number, ring finger plate from Bundle Monster BM223, middle finger plate from Konad m57 and index is plate from Red Angel RA-107, thumb is a plate from Bundle Monster BM16, and I should have used some of the plates with a bigger pattern for the thumb, as you can see is far from covers a thumb. I used Seche vite as the top coat.
