The little mouse used to live in the big city, but by accident she ended up in the little cottage in the woods by the nice family, and she did not miss the city one bit. But she remembered what it looked like on New Year’s eve, and in her dream, she relived the sight of the skyscrapers and the fireworks.

This was the last part of the little mouse’s Christmas story, and if you want her to tell more during this year, she might want to do so…

Den lille mus havde tidligere boet i den store by, men ved et tilfælde endte hun i den lille hytte ude i skoven hos den søde familie, og hun savnede ikke byen så meget som et sekund. Men hun huskede hvor flot storbyen var nytårsaften, og i drømme genoplevede hun synet af skyskraberne og fyrværkeriet.

Dette var den sidste del af julehistorien fortalt af den lille mus, og hvis du gerne vil have hende til at fortælle mere i løbet af året, er hun måske villig til det…

These pretty hands and nails belong to my ”bonus” daughter Anne, who would wear black, silver and purple on New Year’s Eve. So she wanted me to give her a mani, and I decided to go for the big city, inspired by Robin Moses in this tutorial and I changed it a bit. The black nails are 2 coats of Essie Licorice and the silver nails are China Glaze Icicle, the rest are acrylic colors. In the fireworks I placed small purple hexagon glitters, but it’s difficult to see them on these photos. On her pinkies I used clear polish to make the purple glitter dust stick. I received it the day before, and tried for the first time. It will be easier, when I get the special glue, that dries slower. On top is Seche Vite dry fast top coat.

Disse smukke negle tilhører min “bonus” datter Anne, der nytårsaften skulle have en sort og sølgvfarvet kjole på og en violet hat. Hun ville gerne have nytårsnegle, og det syntes jeg jo var herligt. Jeg endte op med at tage udgangspunkt i Robin Moses videovejledning, men ændrede designet efter behov og smag. De sorte negle er 2 lag Essie Licorice, og de sølvfarvede er China Glaze Icicle, resten er acrylfarver. Jeg har sat violette hexagon glitter i toppen af fyrværkeriet, men de er ikke lette at se på billederne. På lillefingrene har jeg brug klar lak til at få det violette glitterstøv til at sidde fast. Jeg fik glitterstøvet dagen før, så det var første forsøg. Det bliver lettere, når jeg får den lidt langsommere tørrende lim, som jeg har bestilt. Top coat er Seche Vite.

The Christmas Story: New Years Eve in the wood, day 17 - Jule historien: Nytårsaften I skoven, dag 17

It was New Year’s Eve, and the family had had a wonderful evening. At midnight they went outside, and enjoyed the fireworks, that lit the sky outside the wood. Even if the children would have liked to have some themselves, everyone agreed, that they would not scare the animals living in the wood. The little mouse was happy about that, because she used to live in the big city, and knew how frightening fireworks were. When she fell asleep, she started dreaming – you can see what she dreamt in tomorrow’s part, the last part of the Christmas Story told by the little mouse…

Det var nytårsaften, og familien havde haft en skøn aften. Ved midnatstide gik de alle sammen ud for at nyde raketterne, der blev skudt af udenfor skoven. Selvom børnene gere ville have haft nogen selv, var de dog alle enige om, at de ikke ville skræmme skovens dyr med raketter og fyrværkeri. Den lille mus syntes, at det var dejligt, for hun havde selv boet i storbyen, og vidste hvor skræmmende fyrværkeri var. Da hun faldt i søvn, begyndte hun at drømme – og du kan i morgen læse, hvad hun drømte. Morgenens del, bliver den sidste del af julehistorien fortalt af den lille mus…

Over my base coat I applied 2 coats of China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve, concentrating on full layers towards the cuticles and thinner and/or absent layers towards the tip. Then I added an uneven coat (no where near a french tip) of China Glaze Awaken (gunmetal grey) on the tips. When dry I sponged on Essie Licorice in the area in between, you can see the steps below. My goal was to create the same colors as in a forest after dark and with snow on the ground, that’s why I used a gradient of these colors, and I’m pretty happy with the result. The midnight dark trees, the snow on the ground, stars on the sky and a few distant fireworks are painted with a fine brush and acrylic colors. Top coat is Seche Vite.

Over base coaten lagde jeg to lag China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve, og jeg koncentrerede mig om at få to “fulde” lag op mod neglebåndene, mens det var knap så vigtigt at negle spidserne var dækkede. Derefter påførte jeg et ujævnt lag på spidserne, det må endelig ikke være en fin jævn fransk manicure tip. Da det var tørt duppede jeg med Essie Licorice i området mellem, overlappende. Du kan se trinnene længere nede. Mit mål var at skabe de samme farver, som der er om natten i en sneklædt skov, derfor graduerede jeg netop disse farver, og jeg er godt tilfreds med resultatet. De midnatsmørke træer, sneen på jorden og himlen med stjerner og et par fjerne raketterer malet med en lille, fin pensel og acrylfarver. Top coaten er Seche Vite.

After some wonderful, cozy days of Christmas with snow, it was a beautiful, sunny day with a blue sky. The snow was melting from the roof creating icicles on front of the windows. The little mice thought it was SO pretty, she sat on her favorite spot in a window and looked out…

Efter nogle dejlige juledage med sne, kom en smuk, solrig dag med blå himmel. Sneen smeltede fra taget og dannede istapper foran vinduerne. Den lille mus syntes det var SÅ smukt, hun sad længe på sin favoritplads i vinduet og kiggede ud…

I used 2 coats of China Glaze Bahamian Escape and for the icicles I used China Glaze Lorelei’s Tiara. In retrospect I would have started made the icicles with China Glaze Icicle and added Lorelei’s Tiara on top, I think the result would have been better. The sun is painted with acrylic colors. On Top is Seche Vite.

Jeg brugte 2 lag China Glaze Bahamian Escape som grundfarve, og istapperne malede jeg med et dotting redskab og China Glaze Lorelei’s Tiara. Set i bagklogskabens klare lys, tror jeg resultatet var blevet bedre, hvis jeg først havde malet istapperne med China Glaze Icicle og derefter toppet med Lorelei’s Tiara. Solen malede jeg med akryl farve. Jeg brugte Seche Vite som Top coat.

The Christmas Story: Santa and the chimney, day 15 - Jule historien: Julemanden og skorstenen, dag 15

The mystery of why Santa in some countries knock on the door on the evening of the 24th,  like in Denmark, where the little mouse lives, and in some countries come down the chimney during the night filled a lot in the little mouse’s mind. So when she fell asleep she dreamed that she was looking at a fireplace, and then suddenly she heard a noise. It was Santa who had fallen with his head first down the chimney, but he was not injured, he laughed and had a little dust in his white beard and on his face, and his sack filled with presents, was OK too. She woke because she laughed loudly :)

Mysteriet om hvorfor julemaden bankede på døren og kom med gaver juleaften i nogle lande, som i Danmark, hvor den lille mus bor, og i nogle lande kommer ned igennem skorsten i løbet af natten i andre lande, fyldte meget i den lille mus’s tanker. Så om natten drømte hun, at hun kiggede på en pejs, og pludselig hørte hun en lyd. Det var julemanden der var snublet på taget og nu var på vej ned gennem skorstenen med hovedet først. Men han slog sig heldigvis ikke, han lo højt og havde fået lidt sod og støv i sit hvide skæg samt på ansigtet, og sækken med julegaver var også uskadt. Hun vågnede ved at hun kluklo :)

Fortsættes den 30. december, men i mellemtiden vil jeg vise jer nogle af lakkerne fra China Glaze Eye candy collection.

Base color is China Glaze Icicle on all fingers except the middle finger, that is China Glaze Little Drummer Boy. The motifs are freehanded with acrylic colors.

Grundfarven er China Glaze Icicle på alle finger på nær langemand, der er China Glaze Little Drummer Boy. Motiverne har jeg malet med acryl farver.

The Christmas Story: It’s Christmas!!! day 14 - Jule historien: Det er JUL!!! dag 14

It definitely was Christmas, and it was snowing! The tree was brought inside and the entire family helped each other decorating it. By the little mouse’s entrance the children placed a tiny little golden bell with a beautiful red bow. In the doorway father hung a twig of mistletoe with white berries, and the little mouse giggled when she saw him kissing Mom. In the evening Santa would knock on the door and bring the presents. The little mouse wondered why he in some countries came during the night, and went down the chimney. But then she thought to herself, that maybe he could not manage to visit all homes during the evening, and later the doors were locked, so that’s why he went down the chimney, if only she could ask him…

Nu var det helt klart jul, og det sneede derude! Juletræet kom ind og hele familien hjalp hinanden med at pynte det. Ved musehullet hang børnene en lille bitte, gylden klokke med en smuk rød sløjfe op, og far hængte en mistelten op i døråbningen. Den lille mus fnisede da hun så ham kysse mor. Om aftenen ville julemanden banke på døren og komme medgaverne. Den lille mus spekulerede på, hvorfor han i nogle lande først kom midt om natten og gik ned gennem skorstenen. Men så tænkte hun, at han jo nok ikke kunne nå alle hjem om aftenen, og at senere var dørene låst, så derfor var han nødt til at gå ned gennem skorstenen, bare hun kunne spørge ham, når han kom…

The base color is China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve, except on my left thumb, where it’s China Glaze Ring in the Red, since my husband didn’t want me to remove the Christmas Rose on it (part 12) LOL. Left hand index: a stamping went wrong (Red Angel plate RA110) and corrected with acrylic color. Middle f. Christmas tree, freehand with acrylics, ring f. RA121 plate for the bow, filled ind with gold and the mistletoe painted in acrylics. Pinkie snow in OPI Alpine Snow and stars in acrylics. Right hand tumb Bundle Monster (BM) plate BM121 + stars in acrylics, index BM121 in white filled in with acrylics, middle BM214 + red filled in with acrylics, ring BM205 and filled in with acrylics, pinkie BM14 + stars in acrylics.

Grundfarven er China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve, pånær på min venstre tommel, hvor det er China Glaze Ring in the Red, for min mand nedlagde “forbud” mod at fjerne julerosen :). Venstre hånd: pegefinger, en stamping der fejlede (Red Angel plade RA110), korrigeret med acryl farve, langemand: juletræ frihånd acryl farve, ringf. RA121 til sløjfen fyldt ud med guld i acryl ligesom misteltenen er frihånd i acryl. Lillefinger sne med OPI Alpine Snow og stjerner i arylfarve. Højre hånd tommel: Bundle Monster (BM) plade BM121 + stjerner i acryl, pegef. BM121 i hvid fyldt ud med acrylfarve, langemand BM214 + rød fyldt ud med acrylfarve, ringf BM205 fyldt ud med acrylfarve, lillefinger BM14 + stjerner med acrylfarve.

When the children were asleep, the parents started wrapping gifts for them, and the little mouse now knew that Christmas was very close. You see, mice do not have calendars, they follow nature and what goes on in the houses, they live in, and so they know. And the little mouse thought to herself: I wonder if it’s Christmas tomorrow???

Da alle børn sov, begyndte forældrene at pakke gaver ind, og den lille mus vidste nu med sikkerhed, at julen var meget nær. Mus har nemlig ikke en kalender, de følger årstiden i naturen og i husene, hvor de bor, og sådan ved de, hvornår det er. Og den lille mus tænkte, er det mon jul i morgen???

The Christmas Story: Garlands, wreaths and a Christmas Rose, day 12 - Jule historien: Guirlander, kranse og en julerose, dag 12

First of all, I want to show you a Christmas Rose, if you do not know it. And I'm sorry about the "empty post" earlier today, I was making tomorrows part ready and clicked the wrong place. I'm having my eyes examined later today, my eyes are terribly stressed and I have such a hard time seeing what I'm doing when I do nail art. Sorry for whining, but it's SO frustrating :(
Allerførst vil jeg vise en julerose, hvis i ikke kender den. Og undskyld den "tomme opdatering" tidligere i dag.Jeg forberedte morgendagens del, og trykkede det forkerte sted. Heldigvis har jeg tid til en synstest senere i dag, mine øjne er vildt stressede, og jeg har store problemer med at se klart nok til nail art. Undskyld jeg jamrer, men det  er SÅ frustrerende :(

Now Christmas HAD to be just round the corner, the little mouse thought to herself. The family had made spruce wreaths and the garlands were still on the table – a good sign. They also picked Christmas Roses, a delicate white flower (the scientific name is Helleborus niger), and they do not last long once they are inside a warm house, the little mouse knew.

Nu måtte det snart være jul, tænkte den lille mus. Der var hængt kranse op og der lå guirlander på bordet, og der var plukket juleroser – sikre tegn. De havde også plukket juleroser, en sart lille hvid blomst, der ikke tåle varmen inde, og derfor ikke holder længe, vidste den lille mus.

My eyes were running in water and my sight was blurry to put it mildly. I used 2 coats of China Glaze Ring in the Red as the base color. The bows on the wreaths are painted with Art Club You’re Golden from Color Club and I used 2 rhinestones in the center of the bows. The rest I painted with acrylic colors, and in retrospect I wish I had left out the bows or painted them in acrylics too. Top coat is Seche Vite.

Mine øjne løb i vand og mit syn var mildest talt sløret. Grundfarven er 2 lag China Glaze Ring in the Red. Sløjferne på kransene er tegnet med Art Club You’re Golden from Color Club og jeg brugte en rhinsten i midten af dem begge. Set i bakspejlet ville jeg ønske, at jeg enten havde udeladt sløjferne, eller havde malet dem i acryl, ligesom jeg brugte til resten af designet. Top coat er Seche Vite.
