Let's talk untried polishes, many, many untried polishes...

Most polish addicts have them - the bad conscience - the untried polishes....
And be warned, this post is not for the fainthearted...
I'm being brutally honest here, so please be kind...

When I recently re-arranged all my polishes, I realized that I have many, like in really, REALLY many untried polishes.
I - admittedly very conveniently - blame my blog, and I guess it can be the downside of blogging, you accumulate polishes you "need" because they would be great to show on the blog...

This is the "untried" drawer. If you start to count, you will be surprised...

And a few more...

And the untried Chanel polishes (and a few others)....

So here they are, my bad conscience, my untrieds - if you count them, let me know how many, I didn't have the guts to do so myself!
But I realize it is hundreds - and to that number you can add around 30 swatched polishes not yet posted and a few pending...
I might not buy very many new polishes over the next months, but there will be some of the new spring polishes among my swatches
- and of course I will go on collecting vintage Chanel polishes...

And guess what: I really, really look forward to swatching all my untrieds!
So 2 blog posts almost every day...

So talk to me - how is your own "untried situation"?
Is it worse, as bad, better, somewhat better, much better or almost non/non existing?

  1. I have over 100 untried polishes, it's kind of sad for me but on the other hand it's not my fault that there is a LOT of beautiful polishes in stores! :D (sorry for mistakes, my english still sucks)

    1. Yes, I LOVE the idea of blaming the store including online stores hahaha - your English is fine :)

  2. i have like 30 untried rn...not bad

    1. That is not bad at all - it must be a good feeling :)

  3. I have just under 200 untrieds...and I totally do the same thing: accumulate polishes I "need" to show on my blog! One day I hope to be down to just a few untrieds...I guess we'll see. :)

    1. YAY, I'm not alone - and I'm convinced I'll work my way through them - there are so many pretties :)

      Slet
  4. I don't care that much about my untrieds (50-70, I can't be bothered to count them) as long as I'm not obliged to review them asap. Then they start to suffocate me. Looking at your stash of untried polishes I'm more interested in trying to figure out which brands and/or shades those are than counting how many there are. That's why I particularly like the second photo, especially the two holographic Laylas.

    1. That's a very good amount to have - but I agree, I know the suffocating feeling, fortunately i don't get that with polishes I buy (as in not sent for review).
I know, and I'm sorry, but showing photos of 3-400 polishes in one post would be time consuming and take some time ;)

      Slet
    2. Well, I know that you'll swatch them in good time so I'll definitely find out which polishes these were :D

      Slet
    3. LOL - or it is possible to ask - but I guess it's hard to see many of the colors anyhow :)

      Slet
  5. You obviously don't want them, you should send them to me! Hahaha, jk!! <3

    Better get to work!! ;)

    1. Hahaha, OK, if I get to keep all pastels and purples and holos and of course my Chanels ;)
Yes, I'd better get to work, and I have started ;)

  6. My untried situation was pretty good until I discovered pinterest polish swapping and ended up with about 40 new OPIs (some I bought). Maybe I should feel bad but I don't ;)

    1. Hahaha, those temptations, those temptations - well, I wouldn't call your situation bad at all - have fun with them all :)

      Slet
  7. So many pretties! Just swatch one at a time... you know what they say... the first step is always the hardest! lol. But seriously, I'd love to come over and help ;)

I'm betting my untrieds are at about 30-45-ish, but I don't actually know! A loooong time ago I told my-self I wouldn't buy any-more polish until I used every shade I own at least once, and at that time I probably only owned 30 shades. This year my main goal is to conserve my purchases for really special shades, and purge anything that I don't love.

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. LOL - you are so welcome, it could be fun :)
It sounds like a good plan, I'm going to purge as I swatch :)

  8. omg, what a collection of untrieds *.*
i don't even dare to start counting ;)
maybe you need help with swatching? just say the word and i'm coming :D

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. I do need help, but I have told you to come so many times, and you never do - but seriously, it could be so much fun - you and Tanja could travel together :)

      Slet
    2. that would be great :D
i'll start to play the lottery, as soon as i win, we're coming :D

      Slet
    3. LOL - hopefully sooner, I'm not getting younger you know :)

      Slet
  9. Awwww, I know that feeling so badly... I have more or less 350-400 un-swatched and 300 untrieds :((( I would love to stop buying polishes too but I simply cannot. LOL
I hope to have A LOT of free time after my university degree, on the end of 2014! Maybe I'll be able, then, at least to swatch them all :)

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Ahhh, I am relieved - some one else is just as bad - before this last reorganization I also kept them in unswatched and untrieds, but now I just divide them in swatched and unswatched :)
I hope you have more free time by then - but also that you get a job of course :)

      Slet
  10. oh wow...I have so many untried nail polishes but YOOOOOOU!!! OMG!!! HELP!!!!
But...this is so awesome <3 and your Chanel Collection...Gorgeous <3

    1. That bad huh ;) - I'm glad you like it anyhow - and come and help me swatch Chanels ;)

      Slet
  11. Wow, that's really a lot! I couldn't resist counting: These are about 449 untried polishes. So you can show many many swatches :D

I have 1 untried polish. In the shop, the color looked better, so I somehow don't want it anymore ... but before it gets into the "to sell" box, I will try it. Maybe it will look great on my nails :)
Normally, I try my new polish right after buying. I don't buy many polishes at once, that makes it easier ;)

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Aww, you counted them - thank you so much - I was fearing it was more than 400... Wow, I sure can show a lot of swatches for sure :)
That is a very limitied untried stash LOL - and yes, I think you should, sometimes bottles are deceiving...
      Thanks again!

      Slet
  12. I'm pretty bad too... I don't want to count anymore and have put a lot of them together with my "trieds", but just guessing... I think about 30% of my collection are untrieds. I'm partly blaming my nail art. It would be so much easier to "just" wear polish, but that doesn't do it for me. But then, I don't feel like changing my nail art every day. So they keep on piling.

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. LOL, I used to keep mine in showed with nail art on - swatched but not shown with nail art - and never tried/swatched - and eventually that killed me - so now I swatch and of course I'll go on wearing showing nail art, but I don't feel like I have to show every polish with nail art, and that is way more relaxing for me :)
I agree, it would be easier, and within the last month I have done so four times - and some colors really are good that way too, I have come to realize :)

      Slet
    2. There definitely are polishes that are almost too pretty to do nail art on. But my "normal" polishes get partly covered up by nail art - unless they're indie glitters :D
For some reason, I rarely take pictures when I wear a polish solo...

      Slet
    3. Well, it's so new to me wearing them solo, so I combined it with swatching them anyhow LOL

      Slet
  13. I agree with Z'ana, if you need some help with swatching, here is a volunteer :-)
The number of your untried polishes seems really too much for me, but then I read some comments and I realized that there are other girls that have even more untried and un-swatched polishes...
Usually I have max 10 untried polishes, but at the moment the number might be around 30, thanks to 2 some nail mail packages and Kiko sales :-)

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. I think the two of you should come together - it truly could be so much fun!
I think it would stress me, if I hadn't more than 10 untrieds, I think I would kind of start to panic LOL

      Slet
    2. Well, if two of us come to visit you, it means that you would have to say goodbye to many of your polishes (tried or untried)... because we would surely try to get (or steal, ahahaha...) some of yours! :-)

      Slet
    3. Hmmm, I'll just have to put them behind bars then - or maybe put the two of you behind bars ;)

      Slet
  14. I have only 10 bottle i guess, i didn't count them. I'm trying to wear my untried nail polishes at least once and not to buy new ones but it's too hard. I have to confess sometimes I buy polishes just for my blog.

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Yes, that was my original plan, now it's swatch them at least once - and then decide if it's a keeper or not!
I'm glad to hear you do that too - I think many of us do!

      Slet
  15. lol.
same here. I've counted my collection... it's around 340 now... and about 200 of it untried =)))
I blame blogging too... and reading blogs - some pictures are so good, so it's like "I must buy it! I must!!!"
and some brands - I've had 8 bottles of one local brand just one year ago... and now I have 50... turns out, they make like 15-20 new awesome shades every season =|
but there are bright side too - after reading comparison of different OPI's "My private jet" editions , I've finally tried it (of course, I have the very first edition - it's been waiting for 6 years lol).

well... it's addiction =) expensive, but quite healthy =)))

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. LOL - yes bloggers are a reason too when I see beautiful photos - and sometimes when I get the polish I realize that the photos were way more beautiful than the polish...
I agree on the brand thing too - for me it will be all new Chanel's - and I really love quite a few other brands :)
I know that feeling getting that special one polish you have wanted so long - 6 years is really a long time - I'm so glad you got it!!!
I agree - it really is all of that LOL

      Slet
    2. rofl.
yeah! but sometimes it's vice versa - some polishes looks Much better in real life... I mean - much better even than on professional photos. then epic win! lol.
yeah. everyone of us has favorite brand =) Chanel is great! but bit expensive for me... it's like "ok. 1 bottle of chanel or 2 bottles of opi? or 3 bottles of essie? or 4 bottles of DL? or 12 bottles of EM? the same price, but much more polishes!" lol. ok, here is the reason my collection grow so fast =)))
lol. no. I meant - I had this polish for 6 years, but it was untried =)
anyway. nice post! I'm like "ok, let's try at least some of mine untried" =)

      Slet
    3. Yes, that is true - but not as often I think LOL
i see what you mean, but I guess I also got caught by the collecting virus in Chanel, the joy of tracking and finding a rare Chanel :)
OH, 6 years untried - yes, now I understand - that is quite a long time :)
Thanks, I'm glad I inspired you to look at the untried ones :D

      Slet
  16. I have a real problem with polish collecting - I try to use mostly untrieds in my posts.. but even with minimal duplication, I still have so many left to try! I can't count them, it's too embarrassing!

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Don't be embarrassed - there are many of us out there LOL - so good luck in swatching and hunting new ones ;)

      Slet
  17. Wow, you have a lot of untired polishes. I have about 20 that I bought and I didin't had time to try it. The problem is that I want more and I don't know when I will try them all and I don't have any space for them...that is my biggest problem!

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Space problem definitely is a big problem, fortunately I have a lot of space for my polishes...

      Slet
  18. wow, that is an impressive untried stash....I havent been buying polishes as i used to so my untried situation is not really that bad.

    SvarSlet
  19. Let's face it: Two blog posts every day doesn't solve the problem. Not unless you stop buying more, of course! ;)
I have at least just as many in my boxes of untrieds. They're everywhere!

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. LOL - depending on how many polishes i show in each ;)
And well, I might slow down a bit - but stopping - no way ;)
And I'm so happy to hear you are as bad as me :)

      Slet
  20. Interesting to see your untrieds stash! :-) I have many untrieds too. I haven't counted them, because I keep the bottles from 2013 together. I was supposed to start using swatch sticks and couldn't decide if I should paint the front/ back side and if I should use top coat or not. Lol! But probably more than 120. I bought a lot of nail polish in 2013, and didn't blog as much as I had hoped, so I also have many that are swatched but not showed on the blog, and many that are only showed with stamping. Some of the untrieds were bought in 2012...

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Small things can stop big plans, I know about that - but you always should paint on top of the swatch stick, that much I can tell you ;)
Well you are in the boat with the rest of us it sounds - it's a good feeling not sailing alone ;)

      Slet
  21. Dont be sad :D Be happy :D

    SvarSlet
  22. lol that's crazy! The good thing is you'll always have a polish to blog about :D

    SvarSlet
    Svar
    1. Exactly, I have at least one year of blogging in those alone LOL

      Slet
  23. Wow! :) My situation is somewhat better ;)
